COUNTRY CLUB WIVES, (Loconeal, 2012) my satire about women, money and homeless animals set in “New Albany, oops, New Wellington, Ohio” keeps gathering momentum, especially now that it’s both in print and an ebook. Centering around the fate of four self-proclaimed "drama queens,” including its nearly destitute, ticked off and recently divorced narrator, Tish McLean, the book has homegrown sex, drama and murder, not to mention lots of reveals about the cubic-zirconium studded underbelly of a fiefdom developed by a local billionaire.
And under the category of life imitating “arf,” the book was recently featured at the Humane Society of Delaware County's (HSDC) annual "Fur Ball"; has been the subject of an article in the New Albany News and an upcoming profile in the New Standard, along with being “adopted” by several book clubs. I will be speaking about the ebook process and plot backstory over the next several months (see above for details).
But it’s not all about big bucks and boob jobs; monies have already been donated to various local and national no-kill animal shelters, which have included HSDC, Humane Society of the United States, and the Red Door Animal Shelter in Chicago, with more to come for a shelter of choice from the New Albany Women’s Network (NAWN).
The paperback ($14.95) and ebook ($4.99) are available from Amazon.com and in other ebook formats on Smashwords.com.
Now it’s onto two other projects, a personal memoir about addiction and soldiers geared towards their families and loved ones; and another satirical novel about a well-known retirement, ahem, “Village” in Florida, tentatively titled DOING HARD TIME IN GEEZERVILLE (It’s PC for me to say this because I am well over the AARP qualification age).
I follow wherever the muse leads. Who says you have to write the same things in the same genre all the time?
